Free Retail & Industrial Barcode Generator

Generating standardized 1D barcodes is crucial for inventory management, retail sales, and logistics tracking. PixelFLowConvertor’s Barcode Generator, powered by robust client-side algorithms, handles all major 1D symbologies including CODE128, EAN-13, and UPC.

Which format should I choose?

  • CODE128: The most versatile choice. It supports the entire ASCII character set (letters and numbers) and is highly dense, meaning it can hold a lot of information in a small space. Ideal for internal tracking and logistics.
  • EAN-13 & UPC: Used almost exclusively for global retail products. EAN-13 requires exactly 12 numeric digits (plus a calculated checksum), while UPC normally takes 11 digits.
  • CODE39: An older alphanumeric format. It is simpler than CODE128 but takes up more physical space. It only supports uppercase letters, numbers, and a few special characters.

Customization Features

Our generator lets you style the barcode to fit your design needs. You can change the bar width (thickness of the narrowest line), overall height, and strip out the human-readable text below the code if you plan on layering the image onto your own stylized package designs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why won't the tool build an EAN/UPC barcode?
Retail formats like EAN and UPC have strict length and character requirements. For example, EAN-13 only accepts numbers and usually requires you to input exactly 12 digits (the 13th is mathematically calculated). If you type letters or the wrong amount of numbers, the generation will safely fail.
Can I scan these on my computer monitor?
Yes! Most modern laser or optical barcode scanners can read these directly off your screen, provided your screen brightness is reasonably high and contrast is preserved (black bars on white backgrounds work best).
